Sotheby’s is currently auctioning an entire barrel of Macallan 1993 under the sealed auction format, with no buyer’s commission.
This prestigious cask has been laid down to age since 1993, and is currently 32 years of age, with another ~15 years of aging potential.
The relatively small volume of the cask, yielding roughly 70 bottles at cask strength, provides an excellent entry opportunity for connoisseurs to dip their toes into owning a private cask of Macallan and creating their very own private label. At such an old age, the spirit is incredibly elegant and balanced, with notes of mango, sandalwood, honey, and caramel.
