A Californian Summer

The California Wine Institute is organizing a month-long campaign this summer to celebrate everything that is great about wines from California!

California is home to North America’s most famous wine regions and producers, with a diverse range of terroir – mother nature’s gift to winemakers. You can find an incredible array of wine styles from California, some are known for their expressive and flamboyant nature, but do not be fooled, as this is just one type of expression from the huge state.

At Sotheby’s Wine, we are big fans of Californian wines and over the last few years we have been curating a list of leading producers that we adore. From Napa Valley, I recently enjoyed Continuum for its finesse, Dominus for its complexity and ability to age and Colgin for its opulence. Further south in the Santa Rita Hills, we are huge fans of the wines of Domaine de la Côte and Sandhi for their elegance, freshness and ability to showcase the individual terroir of the region.
