Tasting Note
Nicholas Jackson, MW
Extremely atypical year here due to tiny yields and huge tannin levels. Deep plummy, mulberry nose - somewhat port like. Massive, liqueur-like substance on the palate. Very sweet and seamless. Huge tannins, but all enveloped in fruit. A huge, impactful wine but far from a typical Margaux. A difficult wine to understand in the context of this chateau, but this is one of those cases where you trust - and know - that the terroir will emerge soon enough.

Very intense, concentrated, tightly wound black cherry and blackcurrant. The tiny yields make the Palmer 2018 a fun, intense, dense, concentrated, powerful, structured, multi-layered, complex and elaborate wine. Tannins are wrapped in dense concentrated blackcurrant fruit, with liquorice, cinnamon and spice. Beautifully structured and balanced with total harmony between all the elements. A very long, concentrated creamy blackcurrant finish that combines power with subtlety. An atypical but excellent Palmer.
