The Fontodi winery is located on 70 acres in the heart of the Chianti Classico district, in a valley to the south of the town of Panzano. The valley forms an natural amphitheatre which for centuries has served as a ideal vine-growing environment with its inique microclimate, and allows the Fontodi estate to practice organic, sustainable farming.

Fermented and macerated in temperature-controlled tanks with indigenous yeasts for at least two weeks. Aged in Troncais and Allier barrels for 12 months.

Fontodi's straight Chianti Classico, from only estate grown fruit, is usually a match for (or better than) all the others. Yes, it is a little bit more expensive, but it is always reassuringly good and very typical of the genuine top class Chianti style.

Tasting Note

Nicholas Jackson: The best example I have tasted of this wine since the magnificent 1997. Perfumed, with great precision and delicacy of flavour on the palate. Less a blockbuster (although there is no shortage of fruit and tannin) and instead all about elegance and finesse. Outstanding Chianti.
