Léoville-Las-Cases occupies a stunning position at the northern extremity of Saint-Julien, adjacent to and above the vineyards of Château Latour, across the border in Pauillac. Simply looking at the vineyards, through the proud stone arch that appears on the label, is enough to understand the brilliant potential of the wine.
Las Cases’ deep gravelly soils and proximity to the river yield a powerful, concentrated style, in which the tannins need a few years to relax their grip. But when they do, Las Cases offers glorious cedary, gravelly Left Bank Bordeaux that ages resplendently for decades.
