Established in Reims in 1843, Krug is the Champagnehouse that truly never disappoints. Their benchmark Grande Cuvée is almost certainly the best non-vintage Champagne, in my own opinion and that of many other wine lovers. It is the art of blending from so many different vintages, with such deep stocks of reserve wines, that gives Krug Grande Cuvée its unique fullness of flavours and aromas.
Released for many years now with their famous “Edition Number”, there is something of a hidden code in this otherwise cryptic labelling. Do you know the secret? By adding the Edition Number to 1844, the very first vintage of Krug Grande Cuvée, the result is the vintage of the base wine of that release of Grande Cuvée.
