Not often do the words good value and Burgundy go together, but that's exactly what you get with the wines of Didier Fornerol. Perhaps it's the lack of starry vineyard holdings that allows Fornerol to fly under the radar. But for insiders, these are thrilling Burgundies at everyday prices.
Didier used to be the cellar master at Domaine de l'Arlot, and now manages a small acreage of his own vines. His emphasis is on high-quality grapes, the use of whole cluster fruit in his reds and a winemaking style emphasising elegance over force. The result is gorgeously aromatic, silky reds and fine, pure whites. I buy these wines whenever I see them; I suggest you do the same.
