CONTERNO, GIACOMO

There is little doubt that the Giacomo Conterno estate is the most important in Barolo today. Not only is it a historic estate, and one that has never changed its style of wine, but it reveals like no other estate the true potential of Nebbiolo and Barbera in the Langhe hills.

Conterno owns the wonderful (Cascina) Francia vineyard in Serralunga d'Alba, and a large chunk of nearby Cerretta. These sites are considered the origin of the most age-worthy Barolo wines, and Roberto Conterno's wines are appropriately powerful, rich and fragrant.
