White Bordeaux for the Summer

Vivian Liang | April 29, 2021

Sauvignon Blanc - Semillon - Muscadelle

Bordeaux is well known for its age worthy reds, especially the famed Classified Growths. Their white wine counterparts are also noteworthy, versatile with food and simply delicious. For me, they are an easy choice for the early summertime here in Hong Kong. These wines are mainly made from Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Muscadelle. Our selection represents a great addition to your thirst-quenching options. I hope you will enjoy them as much as I do.

Aile D`Argent 2017
Aile d'Argent, from the First Growth – Mouton Rothschild -  is a blend of 53% Sauvignon Blanc, 46% Sémillon, and 1% Muscadelle for the 2017 vintage. Exotic fruits, dried herbs, and a long floral finish.

Blanc De Lynch Bages 2017
Blanc de Lynch Bages is a blend of 41% Sémillon, 40% Sauvignon Blanc, and 19% Muscadelle. Refreshing, elegant yet playful with subtle white peach aromas.

Champs Libres 2016
Champs Libres, crafted by the Guinaudeau family of Lafleur fame, is a 100% Sauvignon Blanc white wine. Expressive with layers of tropical fruits, honey tones, and a creamy palate.

Clarte De Haut Brion 2017
La Clarté de Haut Brion, the second wine of both the prestigious Château Haut-Brion Blanc and Château La Mission Haut-Brion Blanc is a blend of 31% Sauvignon Blanc and 69% Sémillon. Fresh tropical fruits, honeysuckle, and an intense palate.

Palmer Blanc 2018
Palmer Blanc is a blend of rare varieties of Muscadelle, Lauzet, and Sauvignon Gris. Expressive yet subtle, creamy with beautiful orange fruits and white flower notes.

Petit Cheval Blanc 2014
Petit Cheval Blanc 2016

Le Petit Cheval Blanc 2014 is the first release of the white wine of Château Cheval Blanc. Very limited in quantities, this true collector’s wine is made of 100 % Sauvignon Blanc. The 2014 vintage shows a crisp palate with citrus fruits, apple, and crushed rock characters; while the 2016 displays aromatic tropical fruits, lemongrass, and a persistent finish.

Y D`Yquem 2017
Y d'Yquem, the dry white wine from Chateau d`Yquem, is my top choice for its citrusy, yuzu-like notes as well as its floral blossom aromas shining through a rich and pure palate. Very limited in production.
