In Burgundy, Chardonnay is famed for producing some of the finest and most sought after white wines in the world.
However the “other” white grape variety in Burgundy, Aligote, is often overlooked and for me a finely made Aligote can provide excellent value by offering complexity, aging potential and a unique reflection of terroir.
Domaine Leroy’s Bourgogne Aligote, a favourite of mine and despite the very fair pricing, offers a true representation of Madame Leroy’s highly acclaimed winemaking spirit. Biodynamic farming and extremely low yields result in a white that boasts a high concentration of flavours and that exuberance and energy you expect in her wines.
These humble masterpieces from Domaine Leroy are great to enjoy when young. For less than 600 HKD one gets to really appreciate one of the greatest names in Burgundy!
