Sylvain Cathiard: Rare and Coveted Burgundies

Retail Team | January 27, 2024

The wines of Domaine Sylvain Cathiard are among some of the hardest Burgundies to find, with small supply and increasingly large demand. Third-generation winemaker Sebastien Cathiard tends to only five or so hectares of vineyards spread across tiny parcels in areas including Vosné-Romanée, Chambolle-Musigny, Nuits-Saint-Georges, and Hautes Côtes de Nuits.

Sotheby’s Wine is thrilled to share four highly sought-after cuvées from this exquisite Burgundy estate. Our current selections all hail from the 2019 vintage, each one attesting to the richness and lively acidity of this excellent year.

The Aux Chaumes and Les Dames Huguette both originate from plots newly acquired by the estate in 2019. At a slightly more accessible price point, these wines are fine introductions to the wines of Domaine Sylvain Cathiard.

Les Clos de l’Orme showcases Sebastian’s trademark ability to blend soft elegance with dense power, while the 1er Cru Aux Murgers features complex dark fruit aromatics from a half-hectare plot of old vines, half of which are 70 years old.

We anticipate high demand for this enticing catalogue of Cathiard cuvées, so don’t miss this opportunity to acquire some of Burgundy’s finest.
