Coquard-Loison-Fleurot is a small family-owned domaine that has stirred up plenty of interest from Burgundy lovers in recent years. The family owns an enviable selection of six Grand Crus vineyards, including Grands Echezeaux, Echezeaux, Clos de Vougeot, Charmes Chambertin, Clos de la Roche and Clos Saint Denis! On top of this they have a holding of some lovely village plots in Gevrey Chambertin, Morey-St-Denis, Chambolle-Musigny and Vosne-Romanee.
There are two core people managing the estate: the incredibly talented winemaker, Thomas Colladot, and Claire Fleurot, who is managing sales. Thomas is a close friend of Sebastian Cathiard of Domaine Cathiard and shares Sebastian’s wine-making philosophy, but with his very own style.
With successful yield management under the capable hands of Thomas, the wines show astonishing intensity and depth, with charming freshness and vibrant fruit.
This style is best shown in the Grand Crus that are quite simply superb and represent value at this level. Other than the Grand Crus, what I would recommend here as your stay-home daily wines are in fact, his village level bottlings. These bottlings offer a glimpse of the style and identity of each village, at a great price and you can be assured to drink well. They are delicate, perfumed and juicy. Perfect for the summer!
Below is our selection of Coquard-Loison-Fleurot. A superb selection in my view and I cannot wait to share them with you.
