Sauternes: Irresistible and Sumptuous

A glass of Sauternes at the end of a meal, or with lobster or other rich dishes, is one of the great joys of the wine world. The irresistible fruity aromas with notes of warm spices and saffron; the sumptuous texture and the perfumed finish: these wines are a study in pleasure.

We are pleased to offer today two vintages a decade apart. The 2019 is youthfully direct and full of glorious impact. I adore drinking young Yquem when the fruit has such a pristine purity, and the 2019 is no exception today. Meanwhile, go back a decade and the 2009 Suiduiraut and Rieussec offer all the flamboyance of that remarkable year, showcasing 2009's trademark richness and exuberance. These years offer two different styles of Sauternes, both equally satisfying – and equally thrilling – in their own ways.
