Sassicaia Across Vintages and Bottle Formats

Nick Jackson, MW | January 11, 2025

Sassicaia was the original Super Tuscan, and for many drinkers, remains the greatest. The gravelly soils in this part of the Tuscan coast are ideal for the Cabernet Sauvignon which makes up the backbone of the blend. Cabernet on gravel might bring to mind the Medoc, but the style of Sassicaia is far different. The Mediterranean warmth yields a sunny ripeness to the fruit, adding an irresistible succulence to the strait-laced Cabernet frame.

We are pleased to offer a range of vintages, including those with some nice bottle age. 2004 is a brilliant Italian vintage and at the height of its powers today. 2012 is a relatively early drinking year, open and attractive now. We are also offering the rarely seen but very useful half bottles; ideal for solo dining or when a glass each will suffice.

This offer is valid until 31st January 2025. While stocks last. Offer may change without notice. Other conditions may apply.
