A Favorite in Nuits-St-Georges
Domaine Robert Chevillon is not only a leading producer in Nuits-St-Georges, it also crafts one of the very best value wines in Burgundy. Today it is run by the brothers Bertrand and Denis and the Domaine impresses with a wide collection of NSG 1er Crus from some of the very best plots.
I am a big fan of the fruit-forward approach here. Theese wines are approachable, young and age beautifully. We are lucky to have almost all of their Cuvées on offer from 2014. A vintage that I personally love for red in Burgundy, it has seductive fruit and sharp acidity, a classic. I suggest you to try one of each to taste how the terroir expresses itself for each Cuvée.
Les Cailles, Les Vaucrains and Les Saint-Georges are their most revered, as they come from vines that are more than 75 years on average. The level of quality displayed here is just stunning. These are at Grand Cru level and promise many more years of graceful aging to reveal their full potential.
Les Saint-Georges is the most balanced and promising. Les Cailles is a very perfumed and seductive NSG, while Les Vaucrains sits somewhere in between these two, often displaying a mineral finish.
