Pursuit of Regenerative Agriculture: Roagna

Rossi Yip | October 24, 2026

With roots stretching back to 1929, Roagna is now guided by fifth-generation winemaker Luca Roagna. Roagna’s philosophy is built on an unwavering commitment to biodiversity. Of its 20 hectares of land, only 15 hectares are planted with vines, while the remainder is woodland to create a balanced ecosystem. To keep the soil active and encourage deep root systems, grass is allowed to grow naturally, without mowing.

This hands-off approach to viticulture finds its finest expression in Pajè, one of Roagna’s most iconic vineyards since 1953. In the cellar, the wine is aged traditionally in large, old oak casks for a minimum of five years. The result is a wine of expressive purity.

Beyond Pajè, Roagna also produces exceptional white wines. In the one-hectare Montemarzino, only 3,133 bottles were produced in 2020. This treasured east-facing vineyard, situated at an altitude of 450 metres, yields a wine of striking aromatic intensity and herbal complexity.
