In Pauillac, Château Pontet-Canet stands out for its progressive approach to viticulture and winemaking. Proudly working the vineyard using biodynamic methods, even when this results in very small yields in difficult vintages, the team then uses concrete eggs as part of the maturation process. The result of all this is a style of wine that is quite singular on Bordeaux's Left Bank.
Modern Pontet-Canet tends to emphasise purity of fruit, a particularly silky texture and very fine-grained tannins, ensuring the wines are quite accessible while young. This contrasts with a generally more structured, earthy style among neighboring properties.
We have a number of recent vintages in stock. 2018 and 2022 are the most full-bodied and structured; 2021 the lightest and freshest; and 2019 and 2020 exhibit a satisfying depth of fruit, structure and freshness.
