Opus One began as a shared dream of two great men, Baron Philippe de Rothschild of Château Mouton Rothschild in Bordeaux and Napa Valley vintner Robert Mondavi. After nearly a half century, Opus One has become one of the most recognized brands in the world. It produces Napa Cabernet Sauvignon in the finest forms, always with rich fruits and a velvety texture tempered by lively acidity and ripe tannins.
The 2018 vintage contains 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot, 5% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 1% Malbec. It offers extensive aromas of blackberries, black cherries, violets and a touch of spices. It shows full-bodied, with plenty of dark fruits, licorice and dark chocolate. The ripe, solid tannins and fresh acidity combine to create a soft and round mouthfeel. It is balanced and elegant, with a long persistent finish.
Apart from the 2018 vintage, I am pleased to present the half-bottle selection from the 2014 and 2015 vintage, as well as the second wine - Overture!
