Founded in 1776, Louis Roederer has remained an independent, family-owned company and is now managed by Frederic Rouzaud, who represents the seventh generation of the lineage. It is known for its exceptional craftsmanship and dedication to producing high-quality champagne.
Today, I am thrilled to offer several vintages of Cristal, the most well-known wine crafted by Louis Roederer. It is produced only as a vintage wine in years when grapes have attained perfect maturity, then aged for 6 years in the cellar and left for a further 8 months after disgorgement.
My favourite, the 2008 vintage, shows a complex and intense bouquet disclosing white flowers, candied citrus, pears and toasted almonds. It is powerful and well-structured, with an incredible finish yet soft texture. Another outstanding vintage, 2015, offers a vibrant and expressive bouquet, revealing aromas of jasmine, baked apple, and stone fruits. On the palate, it is creamy and velvety, with a persistent and lively finish.
Additionally, the Cristal Rosé has also always impressed me. It is a blend of around 55% Pinot Noir and 45% Chardonnay, comprised of 20% wine matured in oak tuns. It is produced using the saignée (bleeding) process after cold maceration, and then aged, on average, for 6 years in Louis Roederer’s cellars. The Cristal Rosé 2013 shows aromas of freshly picked tart red fruit (wild strawberry, raspberry) and lemon-scented flower petals. It is intense, velvety and captivating on the palate. I also love the creamy texture of the bubbles, creating a sensation of roundness and concentration. What else could one ask for?
This offer is valid until August 31, 2024. While stocks last. Cristal 2013 and 2014 vintages do not include gift boxes. Offer may change without notice. Other conditions may apply.
