Domaine Fourrier has a long history in the village of Gevrey-Chambertin and is now regarded as one of its leading producers. The current generation, Jean-Marie Fourrier, has managed the domain since 1994 after studying under Henri Jayer.
His practices in farming and cellaring have taken the estate to the lofty heights of being the finest in Burgundy. Only fruit from at least 30 years old vines are used, and new oak is carefully limited at around 20% to keep the purity of the wine. The results are vibrant wines of great personality, incredible elegance, and a real sense of terroir.
We have just received our allocation of the 2019 vintage of Domaine Fourrier as well as Jean-Marie Fourrier (the négociant label) which offers excellent choices of quality wines at affordable prices. This vintage saw an outstanding balance of ripeness and acidity. While volumes are smaller than those in 2018 or 2017, the prices are relatively consistent.
We have a good range of vineyards on offer, and I encourage you to stock up before some hardcore fans snap them all.
