Meet the Winemaker at Sotheby’s Maison: Domaine Patrice Rion

Terrence Chim | March 12, 2026

Nestled in the commune of Prémeaux‑Prissey, just 3 km south of Nuits‑Saint‑Georges, Domaine Patrice Rion has been crafting terroir-driven wines that showcase remarkable purity since its founding in 1990 by the husband-and-wife team, Patrice and Michèle Rion.

The domaine currently farms 9 hectares across Nuits-Saint-Georges, Chambolle-Musigny, and Vosne-Romanée, with several Premier Crus acquired after 2006 – most notably their prized monopole, Clos Saint-Marc. Patrice’s wines are celebrated for their purity, aromatic finesse, and velvety structure, shaped by his natural-leaning and rigorous viticulture practices. Today, the domaine is led by Maxime Rion, son of Patrice and Michèle, who joined the family team in 2005 after completing his oenology studies in Dijon.

We are delighted to welcome Maxime to Sotheby’s Maison for a guided stand-up tasting in celebration of our Wine & Spirits Festival. Join us on the 21st March, Saturday, 2:00-4:00 PM in our Luxury Salon to explore the 4 cuvées presented by Maxime himself!

Seats are limited – please RSVP with Terrence Chim to secure your place in either session.
