Château Latour 2012 and Les Forts de Latour 2014
Earlier this morning, Château Latour released two wines from its venerable cellars: Château Latour 2012 and, the second wine, Les Forts de Latour 2014.
This is the first release of both wines, as neither were not released as Futures / En Primeur, so this is the first time they are available on the market. You may recollect that Chateau Latour decided to stop offering their wines as Futures / En Primeur after the 2011 vintage.
Chateau Latour 2012: WA 96+, Vinous 96, Sotheby’s 96:
Dense blackcurrant fruit. Concentrated and multi-layerd. Violets and lead pencil. Very refined and well-integrated - the nose show great class. Rich concentration of cassis fruit, which develops on the palate. Multi layered and complex, with fresh blackberry finish. While not a blockbuster Latour, this is very good and shows the class of Latour and the accomplished skill of the winemaking team. Impressive wine.
After releasing the 2008 Latour last year, the Chateau has decided that the 2012 is the next vintage ready to be enjoyed. As we mentioned in our previous Bordeaux 2012 offer, this vintage has taken people by surprise and the Grand Vin of Latour is not an exception. The wine will offer direct pleasure and will last for few decades.
Les Forts de Latour 2014: WA 93, Vinous 91, Sotheby’s 93 Tight, fine, classy, concentrated. Juicy, fresh, blackcurrant fruit. Very sleek and glossy, with everything very harmonious and well balanced. Amazing equilibrium. Blackcurrant, graphite, lead pencil, cedar and tobacco. Tightly grained. Modern yet classical. Vet elegant and refined, but still has power and complexity. Long blackcurrant finish. Shows length and class
The wine will be drinking well now and for the next coming years.
