Iconic wines from australia

Penfolds is not just an Australian icon but also home to a number of the world's most collectable wines. In particular, the legendary Penfold's Grange and the highly limited Block 42.

Penfolds Grange: I have been lucky enough to taste numberous vintages of Grange and have always been impressed by the concentration and power of the wine in top vintages, but also by the elegance in what we might view as lesser vintages.

Grange is a cross-appellation blend form the vineyards in Barossa and McLaren Valley; made predominantly from the Shiraz grape and usually with a small percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon, This, I believe, plays a big part in the incredible consistency of this great wine.

We have three vintages availabe from what were very fine and classically styled vintages in South Australia. This will provide you immense immediate pleasure. That said, there is huge potential for cellaring.

Penfolds Block 42 Kalimna Cabernet Sauvignon: We also carry a wine intertwined with the history of Grange. Block 42 is the oldest Cabernet Sauvignon plot in Australia, planted in 1888, and singular bottling form this magical plot has only been crafted six times.

Fruits from this parcel were used by Max Schubert when he was experimenting the creation of Grange. Only 950 cases were produced for the vintage 1996. The wine was aged for sixteen months in new American oak hogshead. This is an incredible wine with notes of black curants, spices and eucalyptus. It will last many more decades if you can keep stock.
