New Arrival - 2019 Vintage
Domaine Jean-Paul & Benoît Droin is one of my favourite producers from Chablis. The family has been making wine for over 400 years in the region.
Nowadays, they use indigenous yeasts while also allowing part of the fermentation in stainless steel vats and the rest in barrels. I adore the precision and purity of the wines with their subtle lime profile that I find very special.
The new 2019 vintage has just arrived, and I cannot wait to share them with you.
The village-level Chablis is showing lovely citrus fruits balanced with a stony character at a great price point.
The Petit Chablis is cheerful and lively; an ideal option for an aperitif or happy hour drink.
But the three Grand Crus on offer are very much where the Domaine shines:
The 'Valmur' is full-bodied, concentrated and offers multiple layers of character. The 'Vaudésir' is open and drinking well. This vineyard is the first to reveal its true potential with complex stone fruit aromas. The 'Les Clos' is powerful and expressive, with a perfect balance of citrus and minerality.
