Domaine Jean Foillard is creating some mind-blowing reds. They are all made from Gamay, a very versatile grape that gives fruity, robust, and delicious wines. The Beaujolais region, home to the world-famous easy-drinking Nouveau style, is most definitely also a fine wine region. Jean Foillard, whom I have personally been following since my love of wine began, is one of the region’s most iconic producers.
TheFleurie 2018 has a silky palate with enticing raspberries and rose petal notes. It is vibrant and exhilarating.
The Morgon Cuvée Corcelette 2018 is made from over 50-year-old vines. I love its strawberry perfume and elegant flavour of white flowers.
The Morgon Athanor 2015 is produced from over 80-year-old vines from the Côte du Py vineyard. This wine shows alluring wild berries, a generous texture, and a long finish.
All three wines are great meal companions as well as stand-alone bottles. Open, drink, and enjoy!
