Nestled in the heart of Vosne-Romanée, Domaine Jean-Pierre Guyon stands as one of Burgundy’s most compelling yet discreet producers. Since 2006, Jean-Pierre has farmed his vineyards organically, achieving certification in 2012, and his philosophy remains firmly vineyard-first.
His approach reflects a rare balance of precision and sensitivity to nature: whole-bunch fermentation is employed when stems are ripe, yielding lifted aromatics and refined tannins; sulphur is avoided during fermentation to preserve vibrancy and purity. A vertical press ensures gentle extraction, while élevage includes 12 months in barrel followed by 6 months in seasoned oak – enhancing complexity without overshadowing terroir.
The 2023 growing season in Burgundy was marked by a relatively even climate, with warm but not excessive summer conditions and healthy yields across many appellations. The wines show freshness, clarity of fruit, and finely tuned tannins, making them approachable in youth yet structured for aging.
