Côtes du Rhône Celebration

Maxime Lecoq | May 6, 2022

This year in Hong Kong, French GourMay is celebrating the great appellation of Côtes du Rhône. In 1937, Côtes du Rhône was named an AOC - a classification that denotes quality and authenticity.

The Côtes du Rhône vineyards deliver outstanding wines at a great price point. Our selection has an excellent variety of these approachable wines; all great companions to any summer grilled meats.

Sotheby's Own Label
Sotheby's Own Label Côtes du Rhône by Stéphane Ogier is a true homage to this winemaker that joined the family estate in 1997. This excellent example of Côtes du Rhône has depth thanks to a higher than usual proportion of Syrah; this is characterized by richness and weight whilst still being very drinkable and easy to digest. Dark berries, cherries, and liquorice are all on the palate.

Domaine Saladin
The Saladin sisters, Elisabeth and Marie-Laurence, craft wines from 13 different grapes (red and white varietals) on 18 hectares of 40-year-old vines. The vineyard is Certified Organic, operating without the use of pesticides.

Fan dé Lune is predominantly made of Mourvèdre rounded out with some Grenache and Syrah, featuring notes of blackberries, chocolate, and violets.

Paul is made of 90% Grenache and 10% Clairette with notes of plums, rose petals, and spices.

Maison Clusel-Roch
The fourth generation of the original founding family is at the helm of this estate. They blend tradition and modernity to make a particularly lively wine. The entire estate is farmed organically over 20 hectares of vines (17 hectares in red and 3 hectares in white). Expect scents of blackcurrant, woody smoke, and tobacco.
