Spanning Decades and Vineyards
White Burgundy produced by the masterful Jean-François Coche-Dury makes a profound and memorable experience for the lucky few who are able to enjoy these highly sought-after wines. Thanks to precision in the cellar and some of the tightest yields in the vineyard, the wines of Coche-Dury are some of the most intense, rich and finely-balanced whites in the world.
These wines are also very long-lived, with a house style that is apparent across all cuvées. Jean-François Coche-Dury was one of the greatest winemakers of his generation, with an intrinsic knowledge of how to make the most of his parcels, along with a great sensitivity for nature.
We have a collection of the legendary “Les Perrières” spanning decades – known for its stone-covered soil, optimal exposure, and ability to be able to surpass the greatest Grand Crus. Another fantastic vineyard in Meursault, Les Genevrières, produces wines with a delicate touch and slightly more minerality on the finish. We also have various vintages of Meursault Rougeots. While not the most well-known vineyard in Meursault, Coche-Dury’s magic hand always produces astonishing wines from this parcel.
The Bourgogne Aligoté 2012 is a good place to start if you are new to this Domaine and do not overlook Les Rougeots! I have always found it to be enigmatic and so pleasurable.
I feel the genius of this winemaker is in the style of his wines, which is instantly recognizable: so intense, yet impeccably precise and balanced. His winemaking also never overshadows the terroir and vineyard. You keep coming back to the glass to fully grasp what is at work here…is it magic?
