For those who appreciate the finer things in life, Château Haut-Bailly is a name that needs no introduction. This historic estate, situated on a hill overlooking the charming village of Léognan, has been producing some of Bordeaux's finest wines for centuries. However, it was under the ownership of the late American businessman, Robert Wilmers, since 1998 that the château truly reached new heights of excellence.
In 2020, a new cellar designed by architect Daniel Rous and built adjacent to the original cellar was finally unveiled. It features a modern design with large windows that provide ample natural light and stunning views of the surrounding vineyards. The cellar is built into a slope, allowing for natural temperature control and energy efficiency. This new facility has allowed Château Haut-Bailly to continue to improve the quality of its wines. Overall, this new cellar is a testament to the winery's commitment to quality and innovation.
What sets Château Haut-Bailly apart from other wineries is its exceptional terroir. The vineyards are blessed with a unique combination of gravel, clay, and limestone soils that consistently produce wines of exceptional quality, regardless of the challenges of the vintage. Today, we are happy to offer the 2019 and 2020 vintages, as well as a special limited release.
Château Haut-Bailly wanted to celebrate Chinese and French cultures with a limited edition: the Coffret Lanting Set. For this special edition, a unique box has been designed that contains 1 bottle each of the 2015 and 2016 vintages, along with a beautiful calligraphy roll. This collector's item made by calligraphy master, Shuo Yuan, is a traditional Chinese scroll. Almost 7 meters in length, it unfolds the theme of Lanting Jixu, a masterpiece of Chinese calligraphy made in the 4th century. This recounts an event during which friends meet to discuss wine and recite poetry.
