Buying Hospices de Beaune wines not only means you are supporting a worthy local Burgundy charity, but are also acquiring some exceptional examples of the Côte de Beaune. While the Hospices carries out the winemaking, following the auction in November, the barrels are transferred to different winemakers across the region for aging. This élevage plays a significant role in the final quality and style of the wines.
At present, we have three different Pommard cuvées whose élevage was performed by Coche-Dury, simply one of the great winemakers of the region. In addition, from Beaune, the Maurice Drouhin cuvée is consistently one of the most charming of the Hospicesreds; aged, as you would expect, under the capable supervision of the Drouhin family.
