We are pleased to offer two of Germany's most celebrated bottlings from the country's undisputed star of off-dry Riesling: Egon Müller. From the cool reaches of the Saar, the understated Müller has for years been producing wines that take delicacy and purity to new levels. The balletic tension of sugar and acidity in his wines is breathtaking, thanks in large part to the remarkable Scharzhofberg vineyard. This site, in the village of Wiltingen, was likely first planted by the Romans and has long been celebrated for the quality and longevity of its wines.
2020 was a warm vintage, but once again Müller succeeded in producing wines of brilliant lightness of touch and grace. There is ample concentration in both the Kabinett and the richer Spätlese, with the mineral-inflected fruit shimmering with life and tension. To experience off-dry Riesling at the very summit of its potential, try one – ideally both! – of these glorious wines.
