Abreu – Colgin – Dominus – Harlan Estate
While the cold temperatures remain in Hong Kong, I crave some fuller-bodied wines. Browsing through the Sotheby’s Wine list, our selection of fine Napa's caught my eye.
David Abreu is well known in Napa for all he brought to the region. In the 1980s, he started his winery by slowly buying up land in prime locations. Abreu vineyards craft confidential single-vineyard cuvées that are finely balanced and show a lot of terroir transparency. I invite you to compare these highly praised Cabernets side by side.
Colgin Cellars, with vineyards located in the St. Helena AVA, exudes mystique with its fantastic array of terroirs and state-of-the-art cellar technology. This winery is now well sought-after by collectors, with each cuvées having a distinct, precise personality.
Dominus Estate from the Moueix stable is the original project established in the US in 1983 by Christian Moueix. The wines are rich and expressive yet show a unique finesse that reminds you of the elegance found in Bordeaux wines.
Last but not least, a rare magnum of mature Harlan Estate from the praised 2001 vintage. It shows an incredible concentration and intensity, with multiple layers of aromas and a purity that lingers on the palate for quite a time. This wine has been awarded 100 points by Robert Parker. Worthy of a special occasion.
Pick any wines from these Napa wineries, and you will have a fantastic pairing. Be it with a delicate oven roast dish with herbs or simply over a more casual BBQ. Enjoy!
