Producer: Françoise et Denis Clair
Lot 986: Named Lot 986 because the Domaine was founded in 1986.
Classic, fragrant red Burgundy with a lightness of touch, but plenty of depth of character. It is produced by the Clair family, a small family property we have been visiting for years which has an established track record of producing classic, enjoyable, terroir-driven wines. This Bourgogne Rouge is made from Jean-Baptiste Clair’s 1er Cru Beaurepaire vineyard in Santenay.
Tasting Note
Victor Rabot
Pure joy. An elegant expression of Pinot Noir that shows aromatic, bright and juicy red fruit with but a nice fresh chalky mineral finish. Notes of cherry, strawberry with a hint of smoke and spice. This Bourgogne Rouge punches way above its weight, which is not surprising considering it comes from a 1er cru vineyard in Santenay. Perfect with game, poultry and cheese.
