Tasting Note

Serena Sutcliffe, MW: Merlot 53%, Cabernet Sauvignon 40.7%, Cabernet Franc 6.3%. 45% of the crop. This nose is a real 1er cru, jumping out of the glass at you. Smoke, bilberries and buttered toast – the aromas stay with you. On the palate, a touch of great cigars with the black fruit. Density of texture, voluptuous mocha, succulent acidity and velvety tannins all lend themselves to a prolonged finish. 

Adam Bilbey: 53% Merlot, 6.3% Cabernet Franc, 40.7% Cabernet Sauvignon. More reserved and reticent than the La Mission on the nose, with the weight and power slowly enveloping out. As usual this is discrete that commands attention. Cassis, blackcurrant, berry and, fresh alpine forest coolness. Lovely overriding freshness. An opulent and sweet core of cassis and blackcurrant fruit. Pure and multi layered, this does not have the power and extract of a great vintage but it’s so, so refined and precise. Very tight but silky tannins. Not the biggest but fresh refined and perfectly formed.
