More About Wine Futures

Buying Futures—also known as En Primeur—means purchasing wine that is still maturing in the barrel. This is wine that has not yet been bottled. To purchase wine at the first release price, when the margins made by wine merchants are smallest. In most vintages, although not always the case, the price of the wine increases and the margins made by wine merchants also increase once the wine is offered for sale in bottle.

Tasting Note

Bordeaux Futures. Wine currently held in Bordeaux. Estimated arrival in the US: fall 2021. Only available in 6 bottle original wooden cases.

Serena Sutcliffe, MW
83% Merlot, 17% Cabernet Franc.  32hl/ha.  A lovely fresh nose of roses and youth.  Great structure on the palate, covered by juiciness and energy.  Balanced, with an admirable low pH for the year.  Charm and beauty are much in evidence, with perfect coordination between all the elements.  It lingers long in the mouth.

Nicholas Jackson, MW
Very vibrant!  Fresh and generous.  Impeccable Pomerol: so delicious and balanced.  Complex, subtle, layered.  Dry and alive.  A return to the Pomerol of old.  Wonderful and the best wine in recent vintages at this estate - bravo!

Jamie Ritchie
Fresh violets, red and black currants. Very polished and finely grained. Luscious, rich and sumptuous with a juiciness that fills the mouth. Succulent, sleek and voluminous, with a lovely texture and weight, Finishes with intensity and great length. A very good La Conseillante, which is back on form with the 2018.
