2017 Clarence de Haut Brion, Pessac-Leognan

  • Clarence de Haut Brion, Pessac-Leognan futures

Tasting Note

Serena Sutcliffe, MW: Merlot 55%, Cabernet Sauvignon 38%, Cabernet Franc 5.3%, Petit Verdot 1.7%. Nose a little more closed than Chapelle de La Mission at the moment, with black fruit and spices. On the palate, dense textured, with loganberry flavours. Much ‘thicker’ than La Chapelle, with tannins that are velvety rather than silky. Notes of Seville oranges at the end.

Nicholas Jackson, MW: Good concentration with an excellent smoky heart to it. Very Pessac with that distinctive cigar note. Even some lusciousness on the finish. Just a touch dry.
