Wonderful Wines

The Bonnie family of Bordeaux are busy winemakers. They own both Château Malartic-Lagravière in Pessac-Léognan, and an Argentinian project, Diamandes. Both sets of wine deserve more discussion than they get, because these are wonderful wines for very fair prices.

Malartic is classic Pessac: the red structured, rich but with a dry finish; and the white fresh and exotic. Note to the kosher version of the red - it's great to see a top-flight Bordeaux property offering this option.

In Argentina, Diamandes simply makes one of the best Argentinian wines you can find for the price - the amazing value de Uco Malbec. If you enjoy that, you can upgrade to the impressive Gran Reserva without breaking the bank. Both wines benefit from being released rather late, so the wines already show some pleasant maturity.
