Two Momentous Champagne Releases

Bollinger R.D. 2004 & Dom Ruinart 2006

In the history of these two champagne houses, new releases of such important cuvées are no small event. These two wines have set new standards in their own way over the last few decades.

The “R.D.” cuvee stems from a lovely tradition in Champagne to welcome any special guests with a freshly disgorged but mature bottle, brought up from the cellars for the occasion. These elaborate and rich wines would also display extraordinary freshness because the disgorgement had just happened.

This is now available to us, thanks to Lily Bollinger, who created the first vintage of R.D. in 1952.

Dom Ruinart is one of the benchmarks for Blanc de Blancs Champagnes. Made from 100% grands crus Chardonnays from Côte des Blancs and Montagne de Reims. It is a stunning example of opulence and freshness combined. This 2006 is now in stock, after a decade of ageing in Ruinart’s own chalk cellars.
