Travel the Timeline of Cos d'Estournel

Vintage Verticals Await

By Sara Sparks | October 12, 2018

There is a faster way to enjoy aged Bordeaux than waiting for your cellar to mature. We have a library of vintages available from Cos d’Estournel in St-Estèphe that are ready to drink today.

Situated atop a gravelly promontory, the vineyards of Cos d’Estournel grow at high elevation compared to the other sea-level communes of the Haut Médoc. Its unique position provides freshness and longevity to the wines, which can show best in warm vintages like 2000 and 2003. Only the best-sited, pristinely-ripened berries go into the namesake, Cos d’Estournel bottle. The remaining approved bunches are funneled into its “second” wine, Les Pagodes de Cos.

A stone’s throw north, at the tip of the Médoc, the Cos team grows white varieties. The Goulée wines are extremely expressive, particularly the Blanc, which exudes papaya and guava and finishes with tangy, orange-flavoured minerality.

If there’s a shortcut to enjoying aged fine wine, why wait?
