2020 is a gorgeous, successful, complete Burgundyvintage. A warm but steady growing season has yielded bright, mineral wines with plenty of fruit - balanced by judicious acidity. Compared to 2018 and 2019, also warm years, there is more purity and freshness in both colours.
Where better to start than with Joseph Drouhin, a domaine whose wines always offer such honest expressions of their vintage? In white, my picks would be the Meursault village and Chassagne Morgeot; and in red, the Côte de Nuits-Villages, Vosne-Romanée, Chambolle Premier Cru and Bonnes-Mares. But really, it's hard to put a foot wrong in 2020, especially with Drouhin. Happy hunting.
