Saint Cosme Cote Rotie

A Historic Vintage

An excellent growing season in 2015 in the northern Rhone has produced outstanding wines. One producer who made the most of the conditions is Chateau de Saint Cosme, based in Gigondas in the southern Rhone, but making a number of northern Rhone wines, including a Cote Rotie. One peculiarity of the winemaking at this great estate is their commitment to using whole clusters of grapes during fermentation. The use of the grape stems in this way give a particularly spicy, aromatic quality.

The 2015 St. Cosme Cote Rotie is enormously ripe, perfumed and with a great structure for long term aging - although with a decant, the wine is already enjoyable today. Due to its small size, Cote Rotie is one of France's more expensive appellations. But this Cote Rotie from a historic vintage offers compelling value at this price.
