Faiveley Latricières Chambertin 2011

Elegant Winemaking

Throughout Burgundy, generational handovers are taking place and, with them, changes in winemaking style. Nowhere is this more readily on view than at Domaine Faiveley, where in 2006 Erwan and Eve Faiveley reversed course away from their father’s tannic, long-ageing style, and moved towards fresh, much lighter, more elegant wines.

This pure, aromatic style suits the detailed wines of Gevrey-Chambertin very well, especially the intricate Chambertin grands crus. To my mind, in spite of being based in Nuits St. Georges, Faiveley’s Gevrey wines are their finest. The Latricieres Chambertin 2011 is just now coming into its own, displaying gorgeous aromatic complexity, freshness and a lingering finish, all for an outstanding price.
