Enticing Half Bottles for January

Nick Jackson, MW Consultant | January 5, 2020

Lafite - Carruades - Pichon Lalande - Tempier - Seña

Dry January may be a step too far this year, but if you want to moderate your wine consumption, drinking from half bottles is a very practical response. We have long held a broad range of half bottles, and the selection below is notable for the number of great producers it features. Never let it be said that good wines are not available in 375ml format.

Affordable Pauillac is on offer in the form of Armailhac, Duhart-Milon and Clerc-Milon. Staying in the same appellation, Carruades de Lafite and Lafite itself are well priced from the very good 2015 vintage. And 2014 Pichon Lalande and Pontet Canet are a reminder that that vintage has always been attractively priced. Finally, use half bottles to experiment with new wines: try Chile's celebrated Bordeaux blend, Seña, or Tempier's Bandol rouge with a few years' age on it.
