Domaine Dugat-Py

Terroir-expressive wines
Domaine Dugat-Py is, simply put, one of the finest domaines in the village of Gevrey-Chambertin. And yet the wines slip under the radar, perhaps confused with those from the other side of the family - Domaine Claude Dugat (also outstanding wines). A refresher on Dugat-Py may be helpful.

Having taken over from his father, Bernard, Loïc Dugat now runs the domaine. Much of his work is devoted to meticulous care of his vines, which are farmed biodynamically. The wines are made using a large proportion of whole cluster fruit, and see a touch more new oak than many domaines. The style of the wines? They are concentrated, with great energy and depth of fruit. These attributes shine in the wines from 2017, an ideal vintage to try for those new to Dugat-Py.

The 2017s are a little more fresh and accessible at this stage than the dense 2016s. But above all, like all great Burgundy, they provide a masterclass in their terroirs. Taste through a few of these Dugat-Py bottlings and you will quickly learn much about what great Gevrey-Chambertin tastes like.
