Clarté de Haut Brion

A Clear Winner in Bordeaux

By Sara Sparks | April 18, 2019

La Clarté de Haut Brion is a relatively new wine on the Bordeaux scene. It is vinified in the cellars of First Growth Ch. Haut-Brion, whose continuous record of making wine, since 1521, is longer than many of its peers’.
First released in the 2009 vintage, La Clarté de Haut Brion is a joint second-wine of neighboring estates Ch. La Mission Haut Brion and Ch. Haut Brion. The flavors that characterize La Clarté are classic for Bordeaux blanc: aromatic flowers, stone fruit, guava, and sweet lemon. The finish is incredibly long and dry with saline minerality.
While produced in minuscule quantities, its accessible price point, relative to its pedigree, is an enticing reason to cellar this wine for a few years. Our team at Sotheby’s has opened several bottles of La Clarté, and each time we are thrilled by it's freshness.
