Domaine Guiberteau: Brilliant Chenin from a Master

Minerality and Tension

The wines of Domaine Guiberteau are some of the high points of the entire Loire Valley; brilliant testimony to the exceptional Saumur terroir from which they come, and to their noble varieties: Cabernet Franc and especially Chenin Blanc.

The chalky limestone soils of Saumur, and particularly of the exceptional single vineyard of Brézé, give Chenin Blanc whites of searing drive, minerality and tension.  The entry level Saumur Blanc is great value, while the Brézé and, from a single site within it, the Clos des Carmes, offer great depth and up to two decades of ageing potential.

Don’t sleep on the reds either, which combine vibrant fruit with a gorgeous savoury core to the wines.  It is no exaggeration to say that Romain Guiberteau is making among France’s greatest wines - don’t miss them.
