A St. Julien Classic: Langoa Barton

Nick Jackson, MW Consultant | September 5, 2020

Reference Point Wine

St. Julien is the most classic of the Left Bank Bordeaux appellations. If you are looking for dry, gravelly, cassis-scented Cabernet Sauvignon wines, this is the place to come. Like its sister property, Leoville Barton, Langoa has long been a reference point for the St. Julien style in particularly good value mode.

Great vintages like the rich 2009 and elegant 2010 only hover around the $100 mark. I love the juicy 2015 and accessible 2012, but don’t sleep on the 2014, an underrated vintage for a source of early drinking pleasure already.
