2014 Red Burgundy

By Nicholas Jackson | December 20, 2018

Good value and Burgundy are not usually words that appear in the same sentence.  As the region’s fame has rapidly grown in recent years, prices have followed suit.  But recently I have enjoyed a series of lovely red Burgundies for remarkably fair prices – from the 2014 vintage.

Slightly forgotten due to the anticipation of the 2015 vintage, 2014 is a mid weight, pure, charming vintage which has yielded wines of excellent terroir expression.  These wines will not age as long as, say, 2012 or 2015, but they are more immediately approachable than both. I am drinking the village wines now and over the next 3-4 years, and the Premiers Crus starting now and for the next ten years.

2014 in red Burgundy is a classic vintage, of balanced, elegant, aromatic wines which will satisfy any lover of the region, without breaking the bank.
