Why 2012 & 2014 Bordeaux Are Worth Drinking Now

Moderately Priced & Delicious!

The more Bordeaux I drink from 2012 and 2014, the more I have to come to appreciate these two rather forgotten vintages. These “in-between” vintages showcase the finer nuances and subtleties that make young Bordeaux so inherently enjoyable. The wines are usually mid-weight, fresh, aromatic, and supple — in a word, charming.

While it’s easy to default to iconic vintages like 2009, 2010, and 2015 in determining what to drink tonight, many of these wines have not reached their appropriate drinking window.

That’s why I highly recommend red Bordeaux from 2012 and 2014 — the wines are elegant, moderately priced, and most importantly, approachable and delicious in their youth. Below are highlights from these vintages in a variety of formats which are ready to drink now.
