The Macallan

One Of the World's Most Beloved Single Malts

By Pierre-Antoine Bollet | October 2, 2018

This October, an exceptional collection of The Macallan will be auctioned at Sotheby’s, including a 1926 vintage, the highest estimate ever placed on a bottle of wine or spirit at Sotheby’s ($700,000 - $1.2 million).

For our retail business, this presented the perfect opportunity to step into the world of fine spirits, starting with the unmistakable single malts from The Macallan. Controlled by a charitable trust based in Scotland, The Macallan has produced the highest quality single malt whiskies for decades.

Most interesting is the fact that all expressions of The Macallan start in the small pot stills, with the same clear distilled spirit. The variations between all the bottlings have everything to do with the type of oak cask and the length of ageing, hence the importance of the quality of the oak. The Macallan spends more to obtain the best oak casks than any other whisky producer, working with fully integrated “tree to finished seasoned cask” companies in Jerez, Spain.

Our offering from The Macallan features our favorite bottlings from the Sherry Cask, but also Double and Triple Cask series, as well as Rare Cask, and two of the Master Decanter Series.
